The 31st Reaction Mechanisms Conference will be held Tuesday evening June 27 through Friday Evening June 30, 2006, on the campus of the University of Maryland. This distinguished conference has held a position of long-standing significance in mechanistic chemistry since its founding 60 years ago. Subjects have traditionally included organic, inorganic, and biological reactions.

Registration fees for the conference will be modest to encourage wide participation.

Affordable accommodation and meal packages will be available for participants in the conference, including air-conditioned residence halls as well as choices of local hotels. The meal package also will be available to residents of the hotels. All conference attendees will have opportunities for participation in the discussion periods and the poster sessions, as well as informal conversations with attendees. Students and postdoctoral researchers are particularly encouraged to submit poster presentations describing their current research efforts.

The University of Maryland College Park is located, approximately 7 miles from the Capitol in Washington, DC and approximately 30 miles from downtown Baltimore, MD. The campus is served by three major airports: Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), Washington Reagan National (DCA) and Washington-Dulles (IAD). More detailed information about the campus as well as travel directions can be found at: http://www.umd.edu/visitors/.

All applicants are encouraged to present posters describing their recent research. To do so, please submit a 1 page abstract (preferably in PDF format) using the following link: http://www.chem.umd.edu/Conferences/rmc2006/abstracts.php. The deadline for poster submissions is June 8th. Some posters will be invited to give 20 minute oral presentations. These will be selected during the week of the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you in Maryland next summer.
